self portrait
Here's my self portrait. There is something hidden in the portrait. You won't know what it is until you see it in real life. It's off to Lady Orlando tomorrow!
Edit: Seeing how some people won't see this for a year...I'll post a photo of what's hidden. :) Spoiler: (If you want to see what's hidden click here)

Here's Looking at You
Here is my entry in my own book. Done in ink with a little bit of Crayola marker from my kids set for the eyes. This is going to be fun. I have already received Melissa's book and it looks great. Now, before I start let me make sure i am accurate here... I am drawing a self portrait as well as a portrait of Melissa on two of her pages. Correct? I don't typically do portraits so this will be a learning experience for me. Chris, this will be on it's way tomorrow.

Vacation
Hello group,
As we approach the first mailing I wanted to make sure everyone communicates with the person above and below them on the chain if you will be out of town around one of our shipping dates. I know Kathleen had mentioned being out of town for a few weeks and Marty had given her some options for getting caught up. Thanks!

Hi!
Here's my self-portrait.
On my head is this Indonesian headdress that I am in love with at the Asian Art Museum. I keep telling myself I'll make one out of papier maché someday, until then, a drawing will work.
I'd love it if everyone could write a little something on the back of their entry— your name, completion date, materials used and anything else you'd like to share!

I might have gotten a little carried away. Pick your pigeon and sign in. What you can't see is I've already drawn 14 other pigeons (in pencil) for you to choose from. Feel free to use my pigeon or make your own. Do what you wish, maybe just a line drawing pigeon, or maybe add color like I did. Completely up to you.
Now I've got to do my portrait. I'll be sending it off to you soon Lady Orlando!
Repurpose.
I know, I know, I know. You've seen it before. I will add another selfportrait on the following page. I want to give credit where credit is due, and let Rama know how much we love this project. I can hardly wait to see what this book will look like after its long journey.
Tomorrow, I'm going to see if Leo is at the mall. See if I can get him to draw a picture of me before I send the book to Melissa.

My first Moly page
Here is my first ever Moly page... my sign-in page. One thing I have learned already is that this paper doesn't play nice with watercolor. I usually work in a moly with watercolor paper. I guess I may have to venture into new ways to add color. Working on my portrait now and then ready to send on. And the adventure begins.

AnnaDenise is willing to learn...
My entry in my Moleskine. It's supposed to look like me. It doesn't. Well, at least we know I joined this exchange for a purpose: To learn.

Get This Party Started
We're at 14 members (sure to be 15 by the week's end) so I thought we could post some basic swap info.
Feel free to get started in your own book drawing a self portrait and creating some type of sign in page if you'd like. For those of you trying a moly exchange for the first time, check out some of the other groups. The sign in pages are getting to be miniature works of art, too!
Let's set our first mailing goal for July 1st. Please post a comment here or in the chat box if you don't think you can make that deadline. As soon as we have our 15th member we can confirm the rotation (99% sure it will be the person who is directly below you). Those of you that have swapped before, if you know of existing problems or delays between specific countries, can you let me know so we can jiggle the order a bit? I tried to keep things by country to save on shipping costs and time delays.
In the meantime, you may want to work on uploading some photos and or video and then make sure everyone here knows where to find them. We also mentioned including some images in the pocket of the moly for those who may not be able to print things out or who don't enjoy drawing from a screen.
Can't wait to see what this amazing group of artists will come up with. Please be in touch here and let us know.

Two Roads Diverged in the Woods...
Not to complicate things but...
What if we have a group for people who want to do the traditional moly_x and those who want to do a one-to-one exchage? In this way people can choose the group that is right for them. I would be glad to move forward with the round robin group, Marty - would you be interested in leading the one-to-one?
My ideal for the Round Robin group would be 15 members, 2 pages each to fill a 30 page Japanese moleskine. There were still a few people lingering in the discussion posts, we could probably get them added in to one of the groups. Does this seem right?
