Melissa and I + our "babies"

First of all - sorry for the delay, but here it comes! I passed through a lot of Melissa's photos and found her photographed together with her daughter many times. The postures looked so familiar to me, and I found one picture of myself together with my "baby" that looked very similar.
Don't moms and their children look similar over the world?
Melissa, I hope you liked our group portrait.

Anna's Moly Portrait

At long last... I have finally done my entry for Anna's book. I apologize for the amount of time it took me to get this turned around. As with most things, it only took one evening to do it, its just a matter of moving it to the front of the line.

This is done in oils so I need to give it another couple weeks to dry. I did spend a little time awhile back testing this because I didn't want to do oils in her book and find out that it doesn't work. The paper actually took the oil pretty well. I was pleasantly surprised. I have been doing a lot of my other work in oils lately so i wanted to give it a shot and I'm glad I did. So, one more down. I will pass this off to Chris in a couple weeks.

Melissa Monsterised

I look a little frumpy, but hey, as long as Melissa looks ok, that's all I care about. Very cheeky.
I have an idea for Robin, he won't be completely monsterised.

I need to work fast...

So I have noticed with the Portraits I need to work like I did when I used to do life drawing, fast and not thinking too much, and generally, I have a better attitude to it, and I am much happier with the result.

So!
Here is the first of the three I have. Marty as a raccoon style monster. I am very happy with his expression.

All Aboard!

As soon as I saw these glasses I knew what I was going to draw. Unfortunately, It took me quite awhile to get to this. The holidays were way busy. I actually liked this a lot better when it was black and white. I really wish watercolor worked better on these pages, but I am moderately happy with the colored pencil too. I hope this "punches my ticket" as an honorary member of the portrait party.

Chris, off to you tomorrow.

Expose Yourself to Art(ist)

Szaza, I'm sorry. I saw this picture of you in your portrait file and thought, "what is she looking at?" So, I had to draw myself showing you my big, shiny, new belt buckle. I hope you like it.

Here is what Szaza's whole book looks like so far:

The Dark Side

Someone watched too many Batman movies lately.
This would have to be one of the strangest things to come out of my brush /pen from where I originally started and what I intended. Creating is a strange process sometimes.

Here's Looking at You

Here is my entry in my own book. Done in ink with a little bit of Crayola marker from my kids set for the eyes. This is going to be fun. I have already received Melissa's book and it looks great. Now, before I start let me make sure i am accurate here... I am drawing a self portrait as well as a portrait of Melissa on two of her pages. Correct? I don't typically do portraits so this will be a learning experience for me. Chris, this will be on it's way tomorrow.

Hi!

Here's my self-portrait.
On my head is this Indonesian headdress that I am in love with at the Asian Art Museum. I keep telling myself I'll make one out of papier maché someday, until then, a drawing will work.

I'd love it if everyone could write a little something on the back of their entry— your name, completion date, materials used and anything else you'd like to share!

My first Moly page

Here is my first ever Moly page... my sign-in page. One thing I have learned already is that this paper doesn't play nice with watercolor. I usually work in a moly with watercolor paper. I guess I may have to venture into new ways to add color. Working on my portrait now and then ready to send on. And the adventure begins.
